Consensus Conference Handouts from Optimal Testing of Live Donors to Prevent Transmission of Infectious Diseases

The Optimal Testing of Live Donors to Prevent Transmission of Infectious Diseases Consensus Conference was held July 28 in Baltimore, MD. Over 50 transplant professionals gathered to discuss the various aspects of live donor testing from defining risk groups to implementing strategy.

The program began with leaders of four pre-arranged workgroups presenting the information they compiled prior to the meeting. The floor was then opened to public comment, followed by a break over lunch during which the workgroups reconvened to discuss the morning's comments. The workgroup leaders presented again after lunch, summarizing any revisions to their recommendations. Further public comment was welcomed, followed by voting on the recommendations. The workgroups are currently developing a manuscript for submission to the American Journal of Transplantation.

We invite you to review the initial reports made by the workgroup leaders at the start of the meeting.
