The AST recently sent a letter to Senator Patty Murray and Representative Jeb Hensarling, both co-chairs of the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction. The letter asks the Joint Committee to address the current gap in Medicare Part B coverage for immunosuppressive medication which denies transplant patients coverage for critical medication after 36 months. The letter also asks Senator Murray and Representative Hensarling to include the common sense provisions contained within the Comprehensive Immunosuppressive Drug Coverage for Kidney Transplant Patients Act of 2011 in the final legislation.
