This grant will be awarded to a recipient submitting a transplantation research grant proposal in either basic or clinical science at the fellowship level. This grant is intended to support the recipient's salary and travel expenses and cannot be used for indirect costs and/or institutional overhead expenses.
The recipient will be recognized by the AST and ESOT at the AST Grants Ceremony during the 2012 American Transplant Congress, June 2-6, 2012 in Boston, MA, USA and the 2013 ESOT Congress, September 8-11, 2013 in Vienna, Austria. The grant recipient will be allowed to present their research at the 2013 ESOT Congress in Vienna. Travel expenses up to a maximum of US $1,500 should be used from the grant in order to cover travel, hotel and registration.
The duration of the grant will be for one (1) year, from July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2013. Total amount of the grant is $45,000.

Criteria: The grant applicant must be a resident of a European country who will carry out the proposed research project in a North American institution or a North American resident who will carry out the project in a European institution.
Applicants must submit a satisfactory report within 2 months after completion.
Applicants must be a member of either AST or ESOT. However, membership in both societies is encouraged.
A joint review committee consisting of ESOT and AST members will score applications.
