What is the AST Annual Giving Campaign?

The Campaign was established to build an Endowment to fund programs that are core to the Society’s charitable mission in perpetuity.

Over the past two years, the AST Board has made contributions individually to the Endowment Fund and from operating reserves. These contributions by Board members, combined with the generosity of the AST community, have built the fund to $6 million. Since 2003, over ten percent of the membership contributed to the fund.

Where does my contribution go?

One hundred percent of your donation to the AST will be restricted to the Endowment Fund. It will help fund continued research and training of young people in the field of transplantation medicine and science.

The Impact of Giving

Every gift makes a difference. Your gift will help increase the AST Endowment, which now supports the Grants program. This program funds more than $900,000 in basic and clinical research grants.

“The AST Branch Out Grant makes it possible for our group to solidify our collaborations with colleagues in neurobiology and to pursue our studies on neural stem cell transplantation. Through this interaction we can apply our knowledge of transplant immunology to the field of stem cell transplantation in the hope that this will provide new therapeutic options in the future.”

- Olivia Martinez, PhD – Recipient of the 2007 AST Branch Out Grant, made possible through the generous contributions of AST members to the AST Annual Giving Campaign.

“The AST Policy Fellowship Grant has played an important role in the development of my career in transplantation research. It allowed me to focus my research on the cost-effectiveness of organ donation and transplantation. In receiving this grant I have been able to develop professionally as well as by attending conferences and presenting my research to the transplant community. Without this grant I would not be able to do the research I am doing today.”

- Paula M. Buchanan – Recipient of the 2006 AST Policy Fellowship Grant, made possible through the generous contributions of AST members to the AST Annual Giving Campaign.

I would like to join AST members in supporting the Endowment Fund. How can I contribute?

You can contribute to the Endowment Fund in three ways:

  1. Download the donation form and send it with credit card information or check (made payable to AST) to the AST National Office.
  2. If you are an AST member, you can add your contribution to your annual dues invoice or online dues renewal.
  3. Make a donation online
